The BitBox FCA Petrol Gen2 CAN module is designed for reading and writing Continental ECUs used in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles from 2013 onwards. These ECUs are equipped with an internal tuning protection (LOCK), which requires a manual ECU Unlock in BSL mode before a modified (MOD) file can be written.

Core Functionalities

The module provides several critical operations for engine calibration:

• Identification & Status: Checks the current LOCK status (LOCKED or UNLOCKED) via OBD2.

• Reading (OBD2): Allows for FullFlash and EEPROM reading directly through the diagnostic port.

• Unlocking (BSL): Removes internal protection. This requires opening the ECU and connecting it on the bench following the provided manual.

• Writing (OBD2): Supports writing to the calibration area and EEPROM once the unit is unlocked.

• Diagnostics: Ability to read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).

Additional FIDs are included specifically for working with these units in BSL CAN mode:

• GPEC2 (MPC5566): FID 319.

• GPEC2A/GPEC3 (MPC5674): FID 320.

• GPEC4/GPEC4LM (MPC5674): FID 321.

Hardware Requirements & Compatibility

The UNLOCK function is sensitive to the J2534 adapter being used.

• Verified Compatible Adapters: Scanmatik SM2, Scanmatik SM2-PRO, CarDAQ Plus, Bosch VCM2, and Mongoose (excluding ISO versions).

• Incompatible Adapters: Tactrix OpenPort 2.0, Chipsoft J2534, and SMS Soft Dialink.
