Product Overview
The BitBox FCA Petrol Gen1 CAN module is a professional software solution designed for reading and writing Engine Control Units (ECUs) in petrol-powered Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat vehicles. It primarily operates through the vehicle's diagnostic connector (OBD2) via the CAN-bus, but it also supports working on the bench without the need to open the ECU.
Core Functionality: Allows for software identification, FullFlash reading, and writing of the calibration area.
Automatic Safeguards: The module automatically calculates and corrects checksums during the writing process to ensure ECU stability.
Manufacturer: BitSoftware.
This module covers a range of Motorola and Continental hardware platforms used in FCA vehicles:
| ECU Type | FID | Microcontroller (MCU) | Flash Size | Notes |
| Motorola NGC3 | 12 | MPC565 | 1.0 MB | |
| Motorola NGC4 | 13 | MPC5554 | 2.0 MB | |
| Motorola NGC4A | 15 | MPC5554 | 2.0 MB | |
| Continental GPEC (SIM90) | 16 | MPC561 + External Flash | 2.0 MB | Calibration only |
| Continental GPEC2 | 14 | MPC5566 | 3.0 MB | For vehicles up to 2014 |
Critical Compatibility Note: The Continental GPEC2 (FID: 14) is only for vehicles manufactured until 2014. Newer models (2015+) feature RSA LOCK protection and require the FCA Petrol Gen2 CAN module to perform an unlock procedure before writing is possible.
To utilize this module, you must have the following professional equipment:
BitSoftware USB Security Dongle: A mandatory hardware key required to host and activate your BitBox software licenses.
J2534 Pass-Thru Interface: A compatible adapter (such as Tactrix Openport 2.0) is required for communication between your PC and the vehicle's CAN-bus.
Bench Equipment (Optional): If working outside the vehicle, additional hardware like a Powerbox or Combibox is recommended for stable bench connections.
