Core Capabilities

This module provides a robust suite of tools for ECU management via the K-Line protocol:

• Data Operations: Supports software identification, FullFlash reading and writing, and EEPROM reading and writing.

• Safety & Recovery: Includes automatic checksum (CS) calculation and the ability to perform recovery from any state.

• Compatibility: Specifically designed for ECUs with part numbers matching the 38770-XXX-XXX format.

Important Technical Notes

• Programming Voltage: Certain ECUs may require an external programming voltage to initiate the writing process. If detected, BitBox will prompt for manual actions that can only be performed on the BENCH.

• Reading Limitations (FID 226): Some R8C/M16C ECUs have internal hardware limitations that prevent a complete or correct read.

  • If a "CS error" occurs during reading, do not use that file for writing.

  • Use Virtual Reading (FID 226) to obtain the correct file from the server.

  • If the file is unavailable on the server, the ECU must be opened and read with a third-party programmer.

• Hardware Requirements: Requires a BitSoftware Senselock USB security dongle and a compatible K-Line/J2534 interface.
