The BitBox FCA Petrol Gen2 CAN module is a specialized software tool designed for reading, writing, and unlocking Continental GPEC series engine control units (ECUs) used in Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Fiat petrol vehicles from 2013 onwards. These ECUs feature a factory tuning protection (LOCK) that must be removed for modified files to be written.

Supported ECU Types & Hardware

The module supports several generations of Continental GPEC controllers:

BSL Mode FIDs (Bench Service Mode):

• GPEC2 (MPC5566): FID 319

• GPEC2A/GPEC3 (MPC5674): FID 320

• GPEC4/GPEC4LM (MPC5674): FID 321

Core Functionalities

The module provides a comprehensive set of tools for both OBD2 and bench-based operations:

• Protection Management: Identification of the ECU and status check (LOCKED or UNLOCKED).

• ECU Unlock: Performs the mandatory protection removal in BSL mode, which requires opening the ECU and connecting it on a bench.

• OBD2 Operations: Full flash reading, EEPROM reading/writing, and calibration area writing.

• Diagnostics: Read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

Hardware & Adapter Compatibility

Because the unlock process is technically sensitive, it is only compatible with specific J2534 pass-thru adapters.

• Guaranteed Compatibility: Scanmatik SM2/SM2-PRO, CarDAQ Plus, Bosch VCM2, and Mongoose (excluding ISO versions).

• Unsupported for Unlock: Tactrix OpenPort 2.0, Chipsoft J2534, and SMS Soft Dialink.
