The module is divided into three specific families based on the ECU hardware and processor type:

Technical Requirements & Usage

• Hardware Interface: A J2534-compatible adapter is required for operation through the OBD2 connector (e.g., Scanmatik 2, OpenPort 2.0, Dialink, or Mongoose).

• Security: The module requires a BitBox USB security dongle for activation and use.

• Functionality:

  • Software Identification: Retrieves ECU data and software versions.

  • Reading/Writing: Supports flash memory operations directly over CAN.

  • Checksum Correction: Performed automatically by the software during writing to ensure file integrity.

Example Vehicle Applications

• MED17.8.31: Commonly found in 3.0L V6 and 5.0L V8 Supercharged models such as the Jaguar F-Type, XE, XF, and Range Rover Sport.

• MED17.9.7: Typically used in 2.0L GTDI and Si4 engines found in the Jaguar F-Pace, XE, and Land Rover Discovery Sport or Evoque.
